The benefits of having a 'viewing'

The loss of a loved one is one of life's most difficult challenges. No matter how much you think you're prepared to face loss, when the time comes it hits very hard. Grief is the result - and that's perfectly normal. However, there are things you can do to help you process the impact of losing someone you care about.

Whether you're having a formal funeral or a direct no-service cremation, many families choose to have a 'viewing'. A viewing is a quiet, private time where family members can spend time with their deceased loved one. Some choose to simply have the coffin present in the room (with the coffin closed). Others ask for the coffin to be open so they can see them, and say one last face-to-face goodbye. Some place a letter or small keepsakes in the coffin. Some will say a prayer, or recite poetry. Others will pause and reflect in silence. Some will tell a joke or two. Many people shed a tear - a sign of their love.

We have received feedback from many people saying they found the viewing to be a meaningful way to say goodbye and a helpful step in coming to terms with their loss.


We offer viewings in our private, secure facility in Geebung (Brisbane). If the family chooses to have a service at a church or chapel, it is usually possible to have a viewing prior to the service at the venue.


We also include a viewing (at our Geebung facility) when choosing our No-Service 'Direct' Cremation package. Some funeral companies charge up to $1,500 for this! Not us! It's included, free of charge. Find out more here.

No upfront payments at Evermore Funerals (unless you want to prepay!)

Nowadays, most people are watching what they spend very carefully. Cost of living expenses are always increasing, and it seems that most things are getting ridiculously expensive.
